ST. LOUIS — Mary Caltrider sat down with Jennifer McDaniel, registered dietitian and founder of McDaniel Nutrition Therapy, to explore a surprising new shift: Americans are drinking significantly less alcohol — and feeling better because of it.
A brand-new Gallup poll reveals that only 54% of U.S. adults now say they drink alcohol — the lowest rate in nearly 90 years of tracking. Just a couple of years ago, that number was 62%. Even more telling, 40% of respondents said it had been more than a week since their last drink. So what’s behind the sudden drop?
Jennifer McDaniel, who has spent over 15 years helping people optimize their health through nutrition, believes this isn’t just a short-lived trend — it’s a real cultural shift. She outlined three major factors:
- Health Awareness
- Generational Changes
- More Inclusive Options
To support this growing movement, McDaniel is launching Sober Sisters STL — a welcoming space for women who are either sober-curious or fully alcohol-free…
