Washington University announces more than 300 job cuts, elimination of 200 job openings

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Washington University announced Tuesday that it has recently eliminated more than 300 jobs and will not fill 200 vacant posts.

The school says the cuts are being made to balance the budget amid cuts to federal research funding. The university did not get more specific on how much federal research money the school is losing.

Chancellor Andrew Martin says the cuts will help the school maintain a “sustainable path forward.”…
