As the Boeing machinists’ strike continues in St. Louis, former presidential candidate and Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is joining other lawmakers in expressing an end to the work stoppage and urging the company to reach a deal so employees can get back to work.
Sanders penned a letter to Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg to “go back to the negotiating table and bargain in good faith” with the 3,200 union members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 837. Those 3,200 members are on strike at three different Boeing facilities in the St. Louis area in north St. Louis County, adjacent St. Charles County, and in the Metro East region in Illinois in Mascoutah.
