When it comes to getting behind the wheel, St. Louis drivers may not have it easy, but it could be worse. A new study from WalletHub ranks St. Louis in the middle of the pack among the 100 largest U.S. cities for driving conditions, while Chicago lands near the bottom.
WalletHub compared major cities using 30 factors across four key areas: costs, traffic, safety and access to car services. The analysis looked at everything from gas prices and insurance rates to commute times, road quality, accident risks and how readily drivers can find repair shops or gas stations. Each city received a weighted score out of 100, revealing where the road ahead is smooth and where drivers hit more potholes than progress.
St. Louis earned an overall rank of 57 with a total score of 54.15, faring best in cost of ownership and maintenance (22nd) and access to vehicles and maintenance services (7th). However, the city lagged in safety, ranking 97th overall…
