FERGUSON, Mo. — The Ferguson police officer injured in the line of duty during a protest on the 10th anniversary of Michael Brown’s death received a national award over the weekend.
Officer Travis Brown received the Blue Heart Award from The Wounded Blue, an organization that supports injured and disabled law enforcement officer. In a Facebook post, Ferguson Police Chief Troy Doyle said he went to Omaha, where Brown is rehabbing, to present the award.
“Travis continues to show strength, courage, and steady progress in his recovery,” Doyle said in the post. “As I draped the medal around him, I could see the pride and emotion in his eyes — not just for the award itself, but for the love and support that continues to surround him.”…
