ST. LOUIS – Some drivers feel the new safety improvements along South Kingshighway Boulevard in south St. Louis have added time and frustration to their commutes. You’ll notice the changes if you drive around the area of S. Kingshighway and Christy Boulevards near the Southampton Neighborhood of south St. Louis.
The changes include new traffic lights, wider and brighter crosswalks, a bike line, bump-outs and large, concrete barriers in the middle of the road.
These changes are just one portion of the city’s $46 million Principal Arterial Traffic Safety Enhancements project, paid for largely by federal COVID-19 recovery funds.
