Man arrested for food pantry break-ins, stealing donations for tornado relief

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man will appear in court this afternoon for stealing donated items from a food pantry storage unit that had been earmarked for tornado victims in north city.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft took place at the St. Louis Dream Center in the 3900 block of Clarence Avenue, in the city’s O’Fallon neighborhood.

Church members contacted police on Oct. 24 after multiple burglaries. Shoes, electronic appliances, and other items, had been stolen. They’d been donated to help tornado victims.
