ST. LOUIS – The man charged in a drunk driving crash that killed a veteran St. Louis Police officer David Lee, is expected to plead guilty tomorrow.
Authorities say fallen Officer Lee’s death is a tragedy that continues to weigh heavily on the St. Louis community and his fellow officers.Lee was an 18-year veteran of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department known for his professionalism, calm leadership and commitment to service.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 22, 2024, Lee was called to a crash on Interstate 70.Investigators say that while placing cones to direct traffic, he was struck by a car whose driver lost control.Lee was rushed to the hospital but later died during surgery.The driver, 24-year-old Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez, was charged with driving while intoxicated, exceeding the speed limit, and driving without a valid license.
