Developer drops $120M apartment project along Kingshighway, alderman says

ST. LOUIS — North Point Development no longer plans to build apartments at its property near Kingshighway Boulevard and I-64, Alderman Michael Browning said Thursday.

Browning said a representative from Kansas City-based NorthPoint called him about two weeks ago to tell him the company would not be moving forward with its $120 million redevelopment of the long-vacant site. NorthPoint plans to sell the property.

Kansas City-based NorthPoint purchased 1070-1094 S. Kingshighway Blvd. from St. Louis developer Lux Living for $1.63 million in 2023. NorthPoint planned to build an over 300-unit apartment complex there. The company demolished seven deteriorating houses on the properties in early 2024. All of NorthPoint’s parcels that make up the site have a combined outstanding property tax balance of $1,469.27…
