SNAP uncertainty spurs St. Louis giving spree: Donations triple amid crisis

ST. LOUIS – Grocery stores were packed Sunday night with customers gathering their weekly groceries, but many of them who qualified for SNAP benefits were shopping without financial help.

“I understand that there are a ton of families in St. Louis that don’t have that right now, so as much as we can help, we want to,” customer Meaghan O’Brien said.

O’Brien said she has been donating multiple times while in the store, offering donations, and at her children’s school, which is also accepting donations to distribute to local food pantries that will serve thousands…
