Pritzker breaks ground on state-backed grocery in Venice, calling it a ‘revival’ for forgotten towns

VENICE, Illinois — Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Wednesday called it a “revival tent” moment for Venice, Illinois, a town that has seen its population and businesses decline for decades.

“I feel like we should be in prayer,” Pritzker said, opening his remarks beneath a white canopy on a sunny 62-degree afternoon. “It’s a revival tent, of sorts.”
