Mo. AG adds additional charge in case to remove Sheriff Alfred Montgomery

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The Missouri Attorney General on Thursday added a new count against Sheriff Alfred Montgomery in the case to remove him from the St. Louis Sheriff’s Office.

The new count accuses Montgomery of being unable to devote his time to the sheriff’s office because he is currently in jail for bond violation in a federal criminal case against him.

“The fact remains; it is impossible for Montgomery to fulfill his duties while he is incarcerated miles outside of the city he is supposed to protect,” Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said in a press release. “He has failed citizens, detainees, and his own staff for far too long. We are adding a new count to our case asking the Court to permanently remove him from the office he has so blatantly forfeited. St. Louis has a bright future ahead and it isn’t with Montgomery as sheriff.”…
