Overnight tractor trailer fire shuts down lanes on I-70

ST. LOUIS – Lanes were closed overnight Thursday after a tractor trailer caught fire on Interstate 70.

The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on westbound I-70, past Highway 141 and the Blanchette Memorial Bridge.

According to the St. Louis Fire Department, the fire started in the rear-brakes of the tractor trailer. Crews say the truck was hauling carpet and laminate flooring, which made it difficult for crews to fight the fire.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Crews have reopened lanes on the highway and continue to work to clear the scene…
