Glenn Zimmerman’s Winter Forecast

ST. LOUIS – For this winter outlook, we decided to do something a little different. Each month has a little something different, so we are splitting them up for more definition. With that out of the way, let’s dive into December.

December

Are you ready for this? December is suddenly cold. That early November chill set the stage for this pattern to evolve. There is a transition from late November to early December, but cold is the word. Upper-level patterns suggest that this could last until the end of the month, so be prepared for that. We are also seeing several opportunities for precipitation. Depending on the tracks and the timing, a couple of these could be snow.

That leads us to the Christmas forecast. Climatologically, there is only a 20% chance of snow on the ground in St. Louis at Christmas. Not a safe bet. The last White Christmas was 2022. But this year, with some solid cold air, and several storm possibilities, I am leaning towards snow on…..
