Police use DNA from hat to ID suspect in 2022 fatal shooting at St. Louis gas station

ST. LOUIS — DNA from a hat dropped at the crime scene has led prosecutors to file a murder charge in a July 2022 fatal shooting of a teen at a St. Louis gas station.

St. Louis prosecutors on Friday charged 20-year-old Roosevelt Livingston with first-degree murder in the death of Lamantris Sample, who was 18 when he was fatally shot July 4, 2022, at a Mobil gas station located at 4956 St. Louis Avenue.

St. Louis police said in charging documents that the shooting was captured on surveillance video. Sample was walking across the gas station parking lot when a suspect exited a car. The victim began running and the suspect opened fire. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital…
