St. Louis Sheriff billed $7K for trial transportation, wants state to cover costs

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery is asking the State of Missouri to cover nearly $7,000 in transportation and security costs from the recently-completed quo warranto trial aimed at removing him from office.

According to court documents filed Monday, U.S. Marshals billed the sheriff $6,852.54 “for providing daily transport and security” during the trial.

Montgomery’s attorneys filed a “preliminary assessment of cost” motion requesting the state to pay the bill. The court filing asserts that the costs were incurred solely because the state objected to the St. Louis Sheriff’s Office handling Montgomery’s transportation, requiring the use of U.S. Marshals…
