St. Louis police explain delayed response to domestic violence call as woman was held at gunpoint

ST. LOUIS — As a woman started screaming in a St. Louis apartment complex, a neighbor called police in concern for her wellbeing. But officers were too busy on other calls to investigate.

Almost two hours later, the woman was eventually able to call 911 on her own, but before she got through to police dispatchers, court documents recount a harrowing description of a man assaulting her and holding a gun to her head while repeatedly telling her he was going to kill her.

Prosecutors on Monday charged Miles Faris, 25, in connection with the alleged incident. He’s facing counts of first-degree kidnapping, second- and third-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as several drug charges…
