St. Louis baristas hold picket line rally as Starbucks strike hits 4 weeks

The Starbucks on South Grand Boulevard in the Tower Grove East neighborhood was open Friday morning and usually is open until 9 p.m.. But by 4:30 p.m., there was a handwritten sign with a frowning face, saying “closed for the day.”

That’s because striking employees represented by the Starbucks Workers United union were operating a picket line outside the darkened store, chanting “no contract, no coffee” and holding “Don’t cross our picket line” signs…
