ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The City of St. Louis provided an update on recovery efforts more than seven months after a tornado hit North City, with officials focusing on helping residents prepare for winter months ahead.
City leaders held a community meeting and resource fair Thursday night at the Matthews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club to address ongoing needs as cold weather creates dangerous conditions for tornado survivors still without proper shelter.
“We know that things have been far too slow in providing the resources that you all need,” said Mayor Cara Spencer at the community meeting. “This slowness is adding to the trauma. We know this. We acknowledge it and we are doing the best we can to move things faster. You’ve probably heard us say this a million times at this point but our partners, we’ve been leaning in to some of the bigger partners – FEMA and the state – for their parts to act faster. While we can’t make them, we are doing everything in our possible power to make them move faster.”…
