ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – An Australian woman pleaded guilty to 12 felonies relating to fraud and identity theft near St. Louis.
Gabrielle Borthwick, 23, who is originally from Australia, pleaded guilty to 12 felonies: six counts of financial institution fraud and six counts of aggravated identity theft. She has been sentenced to 66 months in prison for attempting to deposit $2.7 million in fraudulent and stolen checks.
According to court documents, Borthwick opened or tried to open accounts at several banks and credit unions in Missouri and other states by depositing false cashier’s checks. These checks ranged from $121,260 to $1.4 million…
