ST. LOUIS – We have a few spotty areas of sprinkles Sunday morning. Otherwise, it is mild out there and the humidity is noticeable. Southwesterly winds will increase ahead of the approaching cold front. Temperatures will climb to around 70 degrees by the early afternoon hours.
The strong cold front comes through this afternoon and will bring a brief line of showers and maybe a few storms with it. Latest model runs have decreased the intensity of this line of storms in our region and severe weather is certainly not a given, with most recent data showing storms developing east of our area. That being said, a brief round of precipitation is possible this afternoon, including a small window of opportunity for storms along the cold front, mainly along and east of I-44 in Missouri and I-55 in Illinois. If stronger storms are able to develop, strong wind gusts and a brief low end tornado are the threats. The timing for this looks to be in the 1PM to 5PM timeframe.

In addition to the brief storm threat, there will be a dramatic shift in winds for the later afternoon and evening hours, with westerly winds gusting to around 45 mph into tonight. A Wind Advisory is in place for much of the region from 3 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday.
We’ll also see rapidly falling temperatures this evening into the overnight hours with blustery conditions for Monday morning. Monday morning temperatures will be in the teens and low 20s with wind chills in the single digits. Highs on Monday likely won’t make it out of the 20s with wind chills remaining in the teens. The good news is that temperatures begin to rebound on Tuesday, climbing back into the mid 30s. For Wednesday and Thursday we’ll see highs in the 40s…
