St. Louis County mourns death of decades-long recreation leader

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The man who spearheaded the creation of the Great Rivers Greenway and Metro East Park District has died.

Robert J. “Bob” Hall was named a recreation leader in St. Louis in 1960 and served in numerous leadership roles, including as the Director of St. Louis County Parks and Recreation, until his retirement in 1999.

After Hall retired, he served as Executive Director of Gateway Parks and Trails, where he spearheaded the creation of the Metropolitan Park and Recreation District, which is now known as the Great Rivers Greenway and Metro East Park District.

In 2009, Hall was inducted into the Missouri Recreation and Parks Hall of Fame…
