Man dies from injuries after New Year’s Eve shooting in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A man died from his injuries Thursday following a New Year’s Eve shooting in south St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the shooting occurred Wednesday evening around 6:15 p.m. on the 2600 block of Rutger Street in the city’s Gate neighborhood.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they found the victim, a man in his 30’s, on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital after the shooting and was listed in critical-unstable condition, SLMPD said. After undergoing multiple surgeries, the man was later pronounced dead a little after 3:30 a.m. Thursday…
