A bright fireball streaked across the St. Louis sky before dawn, lighting up the early morning hours and capturing the attention of skywatchers across the region.

St. Louis resident Nick Brown was among the lucky witnesses. “I was sitting on the couch, and then you heard a loud boom,” Brown said. “You could feel it in your feet—you could feel it in the couch.”
