Homicides down in St. Louis for fifth straight year

ST. LOUIS – For the fifth consecutive year, the number of homicides in St. Louis City is trending downward.

Data from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department shows the city recorded 140 homicides in 2025, compared to 151 killings the year prior, a 7.3% dip year-over-year, and a 46.8% overall decrease since 2020, when the city recorded 263 homicides.
