UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – The University City Police Department (UCPD) is mourning the loss of a beloved K-9 that served the community for a decade.
Police announced the news of K-9 Officer Ryno’s passing on Thursday, sharing that the animal was battling an unexpected illness. A key member of UCPD, Ryno worked alongside Officer Michael Wamsganz, and the two developed a strong bond.
“This is a difficult loss for our department,” said Chief Larry Hampton in the news release. “Ryno was more than a K-9 asset. He was a trusted partner and member of our family. We honor his years of loyal service.”
