St. Louis Jury Finds Terron Young Guilty of First-Degree Murder in 2024 Shooting Death of Anthony Jefferson

After a week-long trial, a jury convicted Terron Young, 34, of first-degree murder in the 2024 shooting death of 32-year-old Anthony Jefferson outside a St. Louis event space, according to the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office. Young also faced charges of two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, for which he was found guilty. The incident, which occurred on the 4700 block of Martin Luther King Drive, left Jefferson fatally wounded from gunshots where he was discovered by responding officers.

Law enforcement, involving SLMPD Homicide Detectives and FBI task force officers, uncovered that Young and Jefferson had an ongoing dispute and declared the shooting was targeted. On the night Jefferson was killed, eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage indicated Young drove to the venue, soon after the shots were fired Young’s vehicle was seen fleeing toward a co-defendant’s residence, a statement released by the Circuit Attorney’s Office stated.

Investigators recovered cartridge casings from a field near the shooting site and later found ammunition matching those casings at a co-defendant’s home during a subsequent search. “This outcome reflects the extensive work of our prosecutors, along with SLMPD Homicide Detectives and FBI task force officers, who investigated this complex case and presented it to the jury over the course of a week-long trial,” Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore said in a release from the Circuit Attorney’s Office.
