Maryville woman killed in police shooting ‘loved taking care of others’

The Maryville woman who died after being shot by an Illinois State Police trooper is being remembered by her family as a “devoted mother.”

Rachel E. Tarrence, 40, died on Jan. 4 after she struck an ISP squad car in East St. Louis and then drove toward a trooper who shot her, authorities said.
