When Cheryl Baehr and I collaborated to write a tribute to the late Tyler “Tai” Davis, the subtitle noted that he “left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.” It didn’t feel like hyperbole then, and it continues to ring true now.
My reaction—everyone’s reaction—was the same. Davis was the person at the party whom everyone gravitated toward, radiating enthusiasm, generosity, and a positive energy that lifted all within earshot. A sentiment shared about the late Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir feels equally fitting here. Like Weir’s music, Davis was like “warm sunlight that filled the soul.”
