Man Dies After New Year’s Eve Shooting in St. Louis’ Gate District

A man in his 30s has died from injuries sustained in a New Year’s Eve shooting in the Gate District. The incident occurred on the 2600 block of Rutger, near Ohio Avenue, where officers found the victim on the sidewalk. Despite multiple surgeries, he passed away on January 1 at 3:39 a.m., according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the shooting around 6:15 p.m. on December 31 after reports of the incident. They found the man unconscious and barely breathing. Despite immediate EMS intervention and hospital care, his condition remained critical. Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
