Ameren asks customers to conserve energy amid snowstorm, frigid temps

ST. LOUIS – Ameren is asking customers to conserve energy and reduce electricity usage when possible as extreme cold temperatures and intense weekend snowstorm move into the St. Louis region.

Ameren says the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), a regional grid operator that works closely with Ameren, is calling on customers to “conserve electricity until further notice due to high demand and weather conditions.”

Ameren says it currently has a sufficient amount of energy available to meet customers’ needs. However, by acting now to limit and reduce energy consumption, it can help ensure customers in Missouri and Illinois maintain have safe and reliable service during periods of high demand, especially the next two days…
