A Jennings man is facing a trio of charges following a shooting at a Ferguson funeral home, as reported by First Alert 4. DeAngelo Taylor was charged yesterday with unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action in relation to the violence that erupted during a funeral service. The incident at Cotten Branch Mortuary on South Florissant Road saw three people with gunshot wounds and three others injured in the scramble to escape, as Ferguson police responded to the incident Wednesday, as per First Alert 4.
Police state that Taylor attempted to flee the scene and entered a nearby restaurant. His attempted evasion ended with an altered Glock, capable of fully automatic fire, falling from his pocket during the ensuing arrest. This detail was captured via a Ferguson Police Department affidavit, in which eyewitnesses also identified Taylor as one of the shooters present. The St. Louis County Prosecutors have since set Taylor’s bond at a hefty $750,000, cash-only and without the option to pay a percentage, as noted by KSDK.
While the arrest unfolded, Taylor continued trying to escape law enforcement, which led to the detection of the modified firearm, converting the Glock into a fully-automatic weapon.
