Water main break turns Delmar intersection into icy hazard, sends customer to hospital

ST. LOUIS — Crews with the St. Louis City Water Department are working long hours to repair a surge of water main breaks across the city as sub-freezing temperatures grip the region.

One of those breaks has turned a busy intersection near Delmar Boulevard into what business owners describe as a sheet of ice.

At Delmar and Beaumont, water has been leaking from beneath the street since Tuesday, according to nearby businesses.
