Man charged after 29 calls to 911 over fast-food refund dispute in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A man was charged after repeatedly calling 911 following a dispute about a refund at a fast food restaurant in south St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the incident occurred Sunday night into Monday morning at a Jack in the Box, located at 4201 South Kingshighway Boulevard.

Police say Shawn Nolan, 36, called 911 29 times between 11 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 9 after being denied a refund by the store. The calls came after Nolan was advised by the store that he should return during regular business hours with his receipt to speak with a store manager and that officers couldn’t help him with the dispute.

When police arrived at the restaurant, officers found Nolan sitting in a parked vehicle and arrested him for misusing 911 services.
