On Tuesday, the St. Louis Board of Education approved a motion to issue requests for proposals (RFPs) for demolition of the properties. The move allows the district to consider bids for demolition and determine the costs of tearing down the buildings.
Following Tuesday’s vote, demolition is expected for the following vacant schools, according to SLPS:
- Euclid School (1131 N. Euclid Ave.)
- Gundlach School (2931 Arlington Ave.)
- Hempstead School (5872 Minerva Ave.)
- Scullin School (4160 N. Kingshighway Blvd.)
- Stowe School (5750 Lotus Ave.)
- Walnut Park School (5314 Riverview Blvd.)
Many of these schools have sat vacant for around 20 years, and all have been unoccupied since at least 2009…
