ST. LOUIS – Nine months after the May 16 tornado struck St. Louis, Forest Park is still recovering from the damage caused.
Remnants of the 1904 World’s Fair remain, including possibly some trees in the Kennedy Forest, but it is visually altered from May 16, 2025.
“The golf course lost about 800 trees,” said Jason O’Malley, an arborist for the City of St. Louis Forestry Division. “They hired their own contractors to come after the storm, and they were able to reopen shortly after. But you can still see some of the scaring because we have stumps along Skinker right here, and we’ve ground out a lot of the stumps on Lindell and started to replant there.”…
