Madison County investigator recovering after line-of-duty crash, foot amputation

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – A chief investigator for the Madison County State Attorney’s Office is recovering after he had his foot amputated, eight years after he was injured in a line-of-duty crash in the Metro East.

Lee Brousseau was serving as an officer with the Pontoon Beach Police Department on Jan. 18, 2018, when he was injured in an on-duty crash. A pickup truck swerved into Brousseau’s patrol vehicle.

Brousseau has undergone multiple medical procedures since the crash, which left him with several broken bones, limited mobility and persistent pain in one foot. After consultation with his doctors, Brousseau chose to amputate the foot…
