Antoine White doesn’t shy away from his roots in St. Louis’ streets. Known as T-Dubb-O onstage and in his community, the St. Louis native has cultivated a reputation for lyricism as a battle rapper and recording artist. His music and advocacy work flow through his latest album, “Sets on the Wall.”
In this new album, T-Dubb-O shares parts of his life story along with his love — and concern — for fellow Black St. Louisans and other marginalized identities. He told St. Louis on the Air that his activism and his artistry are rooted in revolution.
“You have a community of people that you go through certain things where your life is at risk, where your health is at risk, where your general comfort is at risk. Some of us just take a natural stance in regards to organizing our people to protect our people,” he said. “I’m a natural protector, so being a revolutionary at heart, I don’t separate saying ‘I have a responsibility to my community’ and being a hip-hop artist and trying to push the limits in regards to how to deliver my art.”…
