ST. LOUIS – Redd Foxx, a St. Louis native and pioneering stand-up comedian, broke significant barriers in comedy and television throughout a career that spanned several decades.
Foxx is widely recognized for his mainstream success and his leading role in the 1970s hit television series “Sanford and Son.”
Born Jon Elroy Sanford, Foxx rose from a childhood in St. Louis during the 1920s to become a celebrated entertainer.
