UPDATE: Medical Examiner’s Office identifies body found in Mississippi River Monday as 18-year-old St. Louis woman

A body found floating in the Mississippi River on Monday morning, Feb. 16, south of Festus-Crystal City has been identified as 18-year-old Wuaniata Gibson, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman today, Feb. 18.

Gibson had been reported missing from St. Louis on Dec. 24 after she was last seen leaving her home in north St. Louis on Dec. 22. Barge workers discovered the body near River Cement Road at about 8:30 a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered the body…
