A 33-year-old man is being held without bond following a domestic assault that escalated into a barricade situation and fire inside a Front Royal residence on Monday afternoon.
On February 23, 2026, at approximately 3:46 p.m., officers with the Front Royal Police Department responded to a home in the 100 block of South Shenandoah Avenue for a reported domestic assault.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim inside the residence suffering from facial injuries. The victim was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The suspect, identified as Drew Richard Winder, 33, of St. Louis, Missouri, fled to an upstairs bedroom where he reportedly armed himself with a knife and other objects.
