Glen Carbon passes STAR bond district, seeks state approval

GLEN CARBON, Il.—A large-scale development could be coming soon to the Village of Glen Carbon after its Board of Trustees approved a STAR bond district during a meeting this week.

“Governor Pritzker revived and modernized the STAR bond program to ensure Illinois communities across the state have the tools they need to compete for transformative projects and long-term investment,” stated a spokesperson of Gov. Pritzker’s office. “We’re encouraged to see communities like Glen Carbon moving quickly to take advantage of it — particularly in regions like southwest Illinois that compete directly with our neighboring states for jobs and growth. We look forward to supporting other municipalities utilize the program to strengthen and solidify their long-term economic growth.”
