On Fridays from Feb. 18 through April 2, during the Christian-based religious observance of Lent, churches around the metro area heed the call for seafood of all shapes, varieties, and preparations.

You don’t have to belong to a parish to get in on the fish fry circuit. All are welcome, whether you’re dining in or taking your food to go (most spots offer both options). Check websites in advance to learn if cash is required, whether you can preorder to skip the line, and what sides are available; sometimes the accoutrements and dessert table are the best part.
