Metro area tax preparer admits to stealing thousands of dollars from clients

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Prosecutors said Thursday a tax preparer admitted to stealing money from clients.

Mark Murphy, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of government property. He will be sentenced on June 9, with the maximum possible sentence of 10 years. He was also ordered to repay the more than $52,000 he stole.
