Details emerge on Red Roof Inn shooting

ST. LOUIS— St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) released more information about the fatal shooting in the Red Roof Inn on Wilson Avenue that occurred earlier this week.

SLMPD assisted US Marshals in a search for a homicide suspect who they now believe took his own life at the hotel.

On Wednesday, SLMPD made requests for occupants of a hotel room at the Red Roof Inn to exit and used non-lethal pepper balls and OC gas when the requests were ignored. One man exited with a “grazed” wound to his head. Officers found a 46-year-old man inside the room dead. Detectives determined he died by a self-inflicted gunshot and believe him to be the homicide suspect they were searching for. Positive identification is pending…
