Union Station Shock: Metro Guard Smashed With Railroad Spike On The Tracks

A late-night patrol at Union Station turned violent Monday when a Metro security guard was hit in the head with a railroad spike after confronting a man walking along the MetroLink tracks. The guard suffered lacerations and was taken to a nearby hospital, where authorities say he remains in stable condition. Police arrested a man at the scene and took him into custody.

Police said the guard was transported for medical treatment, and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities have not released additional identifying information, and they say the investigation is still active.

Metro Transit’s project page notes that Union Station is included in that rollout, with new security gates and related hardware slated for the busy downtown stop.
