Jury convicts officer who drove handcuffed man to empty field and beat him

ST. LOUIS — A federal jury in St. Louis convicted a former officer on Wednesday for beating and tasing a handcuffed man in an empty field.

Samuel Davis, 28, a former Northwoods officer, was convicted of one count each of deprivation of rights under color of law, witness tampering and falsifying records. He was found not guilty of one count of conspiracy.

Davis could face up to 10 years in prison for deprivation of rights and 20 years in prison for his other counts…
