ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Port Authority on Thursday advanced plans for a special taxing district at the St. Louis City SC stadium site, as team representatives disclosed new details about the scale of environmental mitigation required during construction of the downtown venue.
The board voted to approve a petition to form City of St. Louis Port Improvement District No. 1, following a public hearing on the proposal. The measure would allow the district to impose an additional 1% sales tax within the stadium complex to help reimburse the developer for extraordinary groundwater remediation costs discovered during construction.
