Former Mo. House Speaker Sentenced For Fraud

Former attorney and former speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives John Diehl Jr., who represented Des Peres and parts of Kirkwood in the Missouri House from 2009 to 2015, was sentenced Monday to nearly two years in prison for committing $379,900 in pandemic fraud.

Diehl, 60, has already repaid the loan money. He pleaded guilty in September 2025 in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of wire fraud.

He was sentenced Monday, March 9, to 21 months in prison in U.S. District Court. He also was fined $50,000, according to the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri…
