First Alert Forward: Missouri AG calls for police surge, juvenile justice reform after violent St. Louis weekend

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway is calling for a visible law enforcement surge and the governor’s signature on two criminal justice bills following a violent weekend in St. Louis that left seven people shot, including a 14-year-old girl.

The violence occurred on 314 Day, a civic celebration of the city’s area code. In addition to the shootings, police reported dozens of vehicles involved in a series of “slideshows” — events in which drivers speed and drive recklessly through city streets. Police spiked 50 vehicles during the incidents.
